While it's not always 'roughing it', I always appreciate a night spent sleeping in a tent. Especially when it happens to be at Lake Chelan waking up to a morning like this.
Thanks to an unusually cool and wet spring the wildflowers around the foothills of Wenatchee are in full bloom. During a short hike at the Horse Lake Preserve this morning we counted over a dozen different varieties!
A quick-moving afternoon storm passing through the Enchantments and foothills filters the sunlight
Somewhere on the north shore of Lake Chelan there is a pot 'o gold waiting to be found
This was taken at about 10:30 pm on 8/20/15, a backburn intentionally set from the fire line above the Lake Chelan Yacht Club
This past weekend we had a family ski trip over to Schweitzer Mountain. Thanks to the kiddos getting up early I grabbed this iPhone snap of the sunrise
I'll never get tired of this view. 2.23.15
I picked up a DJI Phantom II earlier this summer and have been playing around with it. Hard to show this perspective from the ground!
On Thursday the 17th of July the Carlton Complex fire crested the hills of Pateros, giving residents just 15 minutes to evacuate. 25+ homes in Pateros were lost that night and as of this post over 100 homes in Okanogan County have been lost in a fire that has burned over 230,000 acres. This is what was left of a friends home
July turned central Washington into a inferno with fires up the Entiat, Tumwater and Methow. This was taken on the evening of July 16th from the Eaglerock area of Wenatchee as smoke from the Mills Canyon fire combined with the Chiwakum fire
We spent the 4th of July weekend at Sarah's grandmothers home at Sandy Hook on Whidbey Island. Mother Nature decided to give us her own fireworks show
This has to be one of my all-time favorite views. As you travel through Navarre Coulee this is the first glimpse of Lake Chelan to greet you. It lets me know I'm going to my happy place. This particular evening a fire at 25 Mile Creek addded a little extra color to the sky
Another sign of spring in the Wenatchee Valley is the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival. The carnival is always a big draw and I had fun playing with some long exposures of the rides in action.
Springs flowers are in bloom around the valley with balsomroon and lupine dominating the views. This was from a vista overlooking Leavenworth on 4/30
I've wanted to get out to Leavenworth for some time to capture the lights but the lack of snow this season kept me from getting what I wanted. Finally it snowed on January 29th and I had the place to myself.
Amazing moonset/sunrise/alpenglow combo thingy over the Enchantments from this morning
This particular light formation caught my eye this morning
An inversion in the Wenatchee Valley has created some beautiful autumn sunsets
